Hair Breakdown | SAG Award Nominee Julie Bowen

Celebrity Stylist Jill Crosby, from Cloutier Agency, shares her red carpet hairstyling secrets for actress Julie Bowen from this years SAG Awards.

  1. To complement her beautiful beaded dress, I wanted to create an elegant and simple look. Starting with wet hair, I applied a volumising mousse and blew out using my T3 PROi Dryer and a round brush. I then created a deep side part.

  2. Next, I prepped the hair with a small amount of oil and used the T3 SinglePass 2 flat iron to create lift at the root and a beautiful shine for a sleek look.

  3. I pulled the hair into a very low ponytail, keeping the left side tight to the side of the head and the right top bang out. To create a side sweep of her top bang, I quickly blew out with a round brush and pinned to the side while make-up was being applied.

  4. Because Julie’s hair is only chin length, I built her low chignon using hair extensions. I prepped the hair pieces with dry shampoo to provide more of a ‘grip’.

  5. I then rolled and pinned the extensions to her ponytail until I created the shape I wanted.

Tip: I love to use matte bobby pins as they provide a better grip and don’t show!

To begin, I applied Volume Builder by Matrix from root to end and blew out the hair using the T3 PROi dryer.

I then created a deep side part, and using 2-inch vertical sections, I waved the entire head with the T3 Whirl Convertible Styling Iron.

For an undone textured look, I passed the T3 SinglePass 2 flat iron over large sections to give the hair a “next day” look.

We decided on a low ponytail with a deep side part that was sleek and had added shine. The look is super modern chic and expensive! All of my favourite things!

To begin, the hair was blown dry with no volume using the T3 PROi dryer, this dryer is perfect because it is lightweight and powerful. I then flat ironed the hair in medium-sized sections with the T3 SinglePass 2 Styling Iron to heat seal the cuticle and provide maximum shine while smoothing the look.

I then secured the ponytail with a crochet elastic, we couldn’t take any chances of the ponytail falling out on the red carpet!
